with stilt roots to 1m high; trunk slightly flutted; bark tight, obscurely ringed or hooped, probably reddish brown but almost entirely covered with large individual lichens; inner bark red. Fruit green, nearly mature, some on ground, opening by 4 valvas, the inside of the valves and the partitions deep red, the seed covered by light orange aril; fruit on tree abundant, oriented upwards, with 1-4 seeds developing, symmetrical when all 4 developed, lop-side when less, very healthy appering and apparently no normal number of seeds; cut fruit pleasantly aromatic, the wall with clear sap, the cut seed with thick sticky yellow latex.
